Foggy, yellow headlight repair
Cloudy, oxidized headlight lenses restored to clear in your driveway, sealed so they stay that way.
Foggy, yellow or cloudy headlights are almost always the same problem: the plastic lens has oxidized. The factory UV coating wears off after a few years of sun, heat and car washes, and the polycarbonate underneath starts to break down into a rough, yellow layer.
That layer scatters your light instead of sending it down the road, so your low beams look dim even with good bulbs. Toothpaste, bug spray and cleaner wipes can make the lens look better for a week, but they leave the damage and add no protection, so the fog comes straight back.
Headlight lens restoration removes the damaged layer and replaces the UV protection with a clear coat that restores clarity. We do it at your home or office in about 30 to 60 minutes.
Signs you need it
- Yellow or amber tint across the lens
- A foggy, cloudy or milky look, even when the car is clean
- A rough, chalky feel when you run a finger over the lens
- Low beams that look dim or short at night
- Peeling or flaking clear coat on the lens surface
What we do
Step by step
- Check each lens and tell you if anything inside needs a new part
- Mask the paint and trim around each headlight
- Prep and machine sand to remove the oxidized layer
- Apply GlasWeld COAT, a UV-cured clear coat
- Show you the result before you pay
Restoration fixes the outside of the lens. Water or fog trapped inside the headlight, cracks through the lens and burnt reflectors need a new part. Text us a photo first if you are not sure, and we will tell you.

Headlight restoration: FAQ
Can foggy headlights be fixed without replacing them?
Usually, yes. If the haze is on the outside of the lens, restoration removes it for $99 for both headlights. If there is moisture inside the headlight, it needs replacing.
Why do my headlights keep turning yellow after I clean them?
Cleaning only removes the surface film. The yellow is oxidized plastic, and without a new UV coating it keeps breaking down. We remove that layer and reseal the lens.
Does toothpaste or a DIY kit work?
Toothpaste is a mild abrasive and can help for a short time, but it leaves the damage and no UV protection. Kits do more, but most finish with a thin sealant that wears off quickly.
How long does it take?
About 30 to 60 minutes for both headlights. You do not need to be there while we work.
