How Much Does Headlight Restoration Cost in Indianapolis?

By Brandon Rodriguez and Dylan Gagner, owners of Geist Headlight Restoration Updated October 7, 2026

Prices vary by shop and by how much work the lenses need. Our mobile service is a flat $99 for both headlights or $139 for headlights and taillights, at your home or office, with a 1-year warranty.

What you are paying for

A real restoration is more than a quick polish. The yellowed, oxidized layer has to be sanded off, and the lens then sealed with a UV-protective coating that restores its clarity. That last step is what decides whether the result lasts a few months or a few years.

When you compare quotes, ask each shop what happens after the sanding. If the answer is a wax, a spray sealant or nothing at all, the lens is bare plastic again and will start to yellow quickly. A cheaper price for that kind of job is not really cheaper if you are paying for it again next year.

  • Masking the paint and trim around each headlight
  • Machine sanding to remove the damaged layer
  • Prepping the lens so the coating bonds properly
  • A UV-protective clear coat to slow future yellowing

What changes the price

Most shops price per pair of headlights. Prices go up for very large lenses, lenses with deep damage, or extras like taillights and fog lights. Mobile services may add a travel fee outside their area. We do not charge one inside our service area around Geist.

Some quotes look low because they cover one headlight, not two. Others leave out the UV coating or charge for it as an add-on. Before you book anywhere, check that the price is for both headlights, that a UV clear coat is included, and whether there is a warranty.

Mobile service vs dropping the car off

Around Indianapolis you can get headlights restored at a detail shop, a tint or accessory shop, some repair shops, or by a mobile service that comes to you. Shop prices are not always lower, and dropping the car off usually means arranging a ride or waiting around for an hour or more.

A mobile service does the same work in your driveway, garage or office parking lot. For most people in Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville and the northeast side of Indy, the time saved is the main reason to choose it.

Compared with the alternatives

A store-bought kit costs roughly $15 to $40 and can work if you have the time and patience, but most kits leave little real UV protection, so the haze often comes back within months.

New headlight assemblies commonly cost a few hundred dollars per side for many cars, and can run well over $1,000 per side for some LED and adaptive units, before installation. If your lens is only cloudy on the outside, restoration gets you most of the way there for a fraction of that.

Our prices

We keep it simple and the same everywhere in our service area, from Noblesville down to Lawrence and from Carmel across to Greenfield. You pay after you have seen the finished result, by cash, card, Venmo or Zelle.

  • Headlight Restoration: $99 for both headlights
  • All Around Package: $139 for both headlights and both taillights
  • GlasWeld UV-cured clear coat and a 1-year warranty against yellowing on both
  • No travel fee inside our service area
  • Fleet and dealer pricing on request for several vehicles at once

Is it worth paying for?

For most cars with yellow headlights, yes. You get noticeably better light on the road at night, the car looks years younger, and you avoid the much bigger bill for new assemblies. If you plan to keep the car a few more years or sell it soon, both are good reasons to do it now rather than later, since the haze only gets worse.

It is not worth paying for if the damage is inside the headlight. Moisture, cracks or burnt reflectors need new assemblies, and a good provider will tell you that before taking your money.
